Congrats to Macy and Waseq for defending their theses!

Huge congratulations to undergrad researchers Macy Wiktorowski and Waseq Mohammed, who both successfully defended their thesis research today!

Macy’s project examined the diversity of mites on the OSU campus, and Waseq looked for population structure within a common parasitoid of N. lecontei.

Both of them also presented their research at our research forum earlier this week! Great job, you two!

2023 Lima Undergraduate Research Forum

Congratulations to Royce Glass, Waseq Mohammed, Marie Walton, and Macy Wiktorowski, who represented the Bagley lab at this year’s Undergraduate Research Forum! It was a great event with a HUGE turnout – so cool to see all the great things happening on the Lima campus!

Raking in the honors at the 2023 Denman

A HUGE congratulation goes to Marie Walton, who took first place for her poster in the 2023 Denman Undergraduate Research Forum. Marie presented her thesis research, entitled “Lepidopteran Diversity in a Restored Prairie”, which describes butterfly and moth diversity in the restored Tecumseh Prairie on the OSU Lima campus.

As if that wasn’t enough, Marie also successfully defended her thesis on the same day!

Congratulations to Marie!

Rocking out at Evolution 2022

Congratulations to Marie and Carson for rocking their poster presentations at the 2022 Evolution meeting in Cleveland, OH!

2022 OSU Lima Undergraduate Research Forum

Congratulations to Ariba, Morgan, Waseq, and Macy for rocking their poster presentations at this year’s Undergraduate Research Forum! All of their posters turned out great, and I overheard some great conversations happening at their stations.

Congrats to Marie!

Congratulations are in order for undergraduate researcher Marie Walton, who was selected for the competitive Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship Program. This will support her work in the lab over the summer, where she will continue her work to catalog the species of Lepidoptera (moths and butterflies) that occur in the Tecumseh Interpretive Nature Preserve adjacent to the OSU Lima campus.

Congratulations Marie!!

The Bagley lab begins!

Welcome to the Bagley lab website! The lab was established in Autumn 2020 at OSU Lima. We are an evolutionary biology lab that seeks to understand how biodiversity is generated and maintained in natural populations. Specifically, we are interested in the drivers of diversity in herbivorous insects, and if and how differentiation at the plant-insect trophic level radiates through, and in turn is impacted by, interactions with other trophic levels (parasites, diseases, etc.). We take an integrative approach to answer these questions, evaluating genotypic and phenotypic data in the context of both natural history information and environmental variation. We hope you will join us as we continue to explore these questions in our focal system: the community of insects associated with Neodiprion sawflies.
