Meet the Team
Youkyung is the director of the Voice/Resonance Laboratory at the Ohio State University. Prior to her joining the Ohio State, she served on the faculty of the New Mexico State University between 2009 and 2014. She completed her academic training (B.S. (2003), M.A. (2004), and Ph.D. (2009)) in Speech and Hearing Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Veena is a doctoral candidate in Speech and Hearing Science at The Ohio State University. She graduated with her M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Northern Iowa and completed her clinical fellowship at the University of Iowa’s Hospitals and Clinics. Currently, she is a practicing medical speech pathologist at The Ohio State University – Wexner Medical Center/James Comprehensive Cancer Center specializing in voice and swallowing rehabilitation for patients with head and neck cancer. On a personal front, Veena is trained in Carnatic Classical music and enjoys musical collaboration with lesser known musical traditions. In her free time, she loves to travel and has a new-found love for hiking and photography.
Monica is a graduate student in the Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology at The Ohio State University. She is from North Canton, Ohio. She likes to spend her time with friends and family, being outdoors, and creating art.
Melike is a graduate student in the Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology at The Ohio State University. She attended The Ohio State University for her bachelor’s degree as well. In her free time, Melike enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family.
Allie is a first-year master’s student at OSU studying voice and pursuing a Graduate Interdisciplinary Specialization in Singing Health. She completed her undergraduate studies in Music Education at Belmont University in Nashville, TN, and grew up in Kansas City, KS. At Belmont, she served as the vice president of the American Choral Directors Association, a two-time winner of the Classical Singers Honors Recital, and is a proud member of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity. She is passionate about voice and the science behind it and hopes to one day become a speech-language pathologist and singing health specialist to help people sing and sound their very best.
Jennifer is a third-year undergraduate student from Dublin, Ohio. She is majoring in biology on the pre-med track. She loves teaching Taekwondo to younger kids and hope to continue working with them in the future as well. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys baking, watching movies, and hanging out with friends and family.
Sami is a fourth-year undergraduate from Wadsworth, Ohio. She is majoring in Speech and Hearing Science and minoring in Disability Studies. At OSU, she enjoys being involved in Project Heal, NSSLHA, and Operation Smile. In her free time, she loves playing with her dog and playing pickleball. Sami has plans to work as a medical speech-language pathologist in the future.
Fiona McDaniel is a current student at The Ohio State University working on her B.A. in Speech and Hearing Sciences. Fiona is a member of the NSSLHA club and enjoys crocheting, long boarding, and playing tennis with her friends in her spare time. After completing her B.A., Fiona hopes to continue her education at The Ohio State University to earn a M.A. in Speech Language Pathology.
Grace is currently a junior in Speech and Hearing Science major with a minor in Disability Studies from Perrysburg, OH. On campus, she serves as a Student Facility Coordinator for the Satellite Gym Facilities and is involved in NSSLHA and Friendship Circle! She has a passion for singing and all things related to music and with that hope to one day become a speech-language pathologist with a specialization in voice.
