Bar Project

Research

I had to research a lot to even begin this project. What type of wood was best, where is it the cheapest, what are the best screws to use, and so on and so forth? I had to figure out all of those things and do the math to find how much wood of each type I would need. I ended up using many different types of 2×4″s and beams and plywood so I had to take each product into account when creating this 9×5′ bar.

Production

For production I’m just going to drop in the pictures I took along the way of creating this bar.

Bases of the bar laid out to show the shape
Adding support beam to the bases to keep the shape of the bar, and create a heavy bottom
Lining up the bar top with the bases
Adding wooden beams across the bases to create the effect of a wood pallet bar
Coating them in paint thinner than painting previously mentioned beams

Addition of layered/staggered bartop

Addition of border to the bartop

Applied sanding, paint thinner, and paint to the bartop
Addition of shelving on the right-hand side of the bar
Closing off the left side of the bar with planks
Closing off the right side of the bar with planks

One perspective with cards applied onto the bartop
Another view with more cards and Cavaliers program
