About Me

Hello everyone, my name is Lovette Azap, and I am an incoming undergraduate freshman at THE Ohio State University.  Currently, I am a Biochemistry major that is considering a minor or a major in neuroscience on the pre-med track. I am aspiring to become a surgeon with a specialty in cardiology.

I spent my summer completing an internship program with Cleveland Clinic, where I worked on four research projects as well as shadowed surgeons at Cleveland Clinic’s Glickman Urology Department. My favorite surgeries that I shadowed were a Laparoscopic Robotic Partial Nephrectomy as well as a Laparoscopic Robotic Retropubic Radical Prostatectomy with nerve sparing. In addition to this, I also completed a total of 183 hours volunteering in Cleveland Clinic’s Minority Men’s Health Center.

At Ohio State, I am a Health Sciences Scholar as well as a Morrill Scholar. In addition to my involvement to these organizations, I am interested in joining the African Youth League Organization as well as the Black Student Association.

My hobbies include touring all of the food places at Ohio State as well as working out in the RPAC. I hold a strong admiration for reading, and my favorite authors are Toni Morrison (Beloved is THE best book ever made … the intricacy and complexity of Morrison’s writing is UNFATHOMABLE) and Nathanial Hawthorne. I also love to travel! My favorite vacation I have taken was to France, and it was an amazing experience because of my admiration for the French language and culture.

I look forward to these next four years at THE Ohio State University, and I am excited to see where my journey takes me.
