G.O.A.L.S.

As an Honors student, I plan to use my time at The Ohio State University to its fullest extent. Through academic, social, and globally based activities, I plan on broadening my horizons and further developing the established strengths that I possess. Specifically, I have planned out certain activities and classes to meet my G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness: Through my participation in the London Honors program, my studies in Spanish, and my continued interactions with individuals of every background, I hope to diversify my views on the world outside of what I am familiar with through personal connection and introspection. Seeing how similar we all are regardless of where we come from is a strong unifying force that should be present in every educational or professional environment, and I hope to carry what I have learned here into my career.

Original Inquiry: Through my studies into Criminology and Criminal Justice, I hope to research some of the statistical predictors of crime and how it affects a community in conjunction with the wonderful faculty in the Sociology/Criminology department.

Academic Enrichment: Through the Honors program, I am able to pursue academic opportunity beyond a normal lecture setting. Through taking a challenging academic course load and advancing my knowledge outside of the classroom, I hope to gain a level of education that will allow me to stand out in my field and be the best candidate for hiring.

Leadership: With my involvement in the Ohio State Sailing Club and various other leadership opportunities that will present themselves as I progress through my time at OSU, I will be able to strengthen my leadership abilities and gain experience that will be crucial in the workforce.

Service: Through volunteering and daily acts of kindness I hope to represent the best of what Ohio State has to offer in keeping with the tradition of Midwestern hospitality.

About Me

My name is Drew Ayers, I am a freshman at The Ohio State University majoring in criminology with a minor in Spanish. I was raised in Overland Park, Kansas until 2018 when I moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and fell in love with tOSU. I enjoy reading, hanging with my friends, trying new foods, and driving. I hope to use my experience and education that I will gain from my time here to further myself in a career in law enforcement, where I hope to positively impact the lives of those around me and make a difference where I can.

Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen.
