Maintaining Motivation Blog Post

The end of the semester has finally come, cramming for finals and trying to not explode has been a great joy but I have been able to keep moving forward and accomplish the goals I set for myself at the beginning of the semester. But other than studying, finishing up ESEPSY 1159 with the final blog post has been a great feat. I turned in 99% of the assignments and have only missed 1 which is a great accomplishment and will finish the class with a good grade. The course has taught me a lot about how to work smarter and not harder, I have been able to obtain my goals easier and more efficiently than before and it has been amazing.

This weeks assignments consisted of a 2 day app usage for studying, homework time and other forms of school and how we used them. I used Tomato Time, I liked it a lot. Also there were 2 quizzes, 1 was a course evaluation basically our thoughts of the course which I enjoyed a lot. Second quiz was based off our time management and how we have either improved or gone down in our scores. Happy to say I improved. Last but not least our final blog post, I had a fun time writing all the blog post probably the funnest assignments.

Module 6 Blog Post

This module was short one with assignments which was nice, it was a little less stressful and time consuming which made it easy to complete. I really liked evaluating sources for research questions. I feel like I can find quality and reliable sources now for different assignments and not have to worry about the information being incorrect or even nearly off of the truth. It was also nice being able to differentiate the differences in “search” and “research” like the way a question is formatted has so much influence on what it can be defined as. I also think that wikipedia is bogus and shouldn’t be anyones first thought for finding information or using it for any kind source whatsoever. But that is a personal biased opinion, I don’t really see any types of benefits coming from wikipedia only because it is up for grabs on what people can upload onto the website and pass it off as viable information.

But all in all I think this module consisted of good confidence boosting for finding sources for research and things to help study and apply to school work. But I am kind of sad this going to be one of my last uploads for blogs I am feeling really good about writing these pieces and uploading them.

Web-Enhanced Listening and Viewing Strategies Blog Post Mod 5

For this weeks module, I was glad on being able to use crash course. It is one of my most favorite study, catch up, or prepare for anything place to go to for academic purposes. I even fall asleep listening just because of how much I enjoy their videos. But I liked being able to evaluate and use for an assignment.

But following, the notes and listening skills segment to me I feel was kind of pointless. Starting off to me it felt that the the strategies they talk about and try to teach are more based for high school classes. It wasn’t built for they way a college instructor would think of teaching a course. But comparing the notes they took to mine I felt that it was more developed and thought out for a college course. For example my notes took less space and less words than both of their styles and I was still able to get all the information they wrote down.

Other than those 2 assignments I feel that I am also getting better and more comfortable with writing these blogs, I find myself enjoying and looking forward to writing out each post which is making it easier to complete each week.

Module 4 Review Blog

Starting off Module 4, we were given 2 assignments 1 blog post and a consent form. The consent form was for a study that will be using our demographics as students to see what motivates us to do our school work and how. I thought it was pretty cool because it could help teach future students ways to succeed in the classroom, so I felt proud to be apart of the study. Following we had 2 assignments, 1 was to research methods to study, deal with time management and ways to learn things online and make a 3 paragraph write up about what we liked most about 3 individual websites and or apps, then respond to a fellow peer. I like this assignment because I was able to really find something cool with the Purdue website on how to write different formatted papers. But also it was fun to see everyone else’s most used ways to study, and I think that majorly of the class had Quizlet which was really funny to me; but made sense sine I think quizlet is the most superior way to study. Change my mind. Continuing, we had an assignment showing us resources on how to study, I chose the mindmaps because I have always found it to be fun to create a giant web of things based off a single subject, but abnormal psychology has so many things to begin with I think that the mindmap would actually make it easier. I liked Module 4 because it showed me new things to keep in my arsenal for studying.

Efficiency in the Digital Age

Module 3 had 2 open source quizzes this time and it took me a lot of time to finish both of them, almost 2 hours total. I don’t really know why but I wasn’t frustrated or anything which was nice just took a long time. I had a hard trying to color code my spreadsheet and I was constantly laughing because I don’t have a mouse for my laptop but other than that no issues. Then going through my spreadsheet I have to see what I spend my days like and it was interesting to me looking back on each day. Then using more of Google to create a calendar for the next month or so I realized I have a very light load so far this semester which is kind of stressful since my sports season doesn’t start until the second semester.

Also in Module 3 one of the things that stuck out most to me from the lessons was “procrastination” because I do it all the time! But it’s very ironic, everyone knows they procrastinate but do we do anything about it? I definitely don’t. But knowing that I procrastinate I think helps me to try and reach my goal even better, because now I can plan on things in a way that doesn’t allow me to procrastinate. But I realized I procrastinate because I let other things distract me and don’t set priorities all the time. Which I’m going to work on fixing.

Module 2 Reflection Post

To start off the week with Module 2, I had a pretty easy time making my spreadsheet since in high school we used a lot of Google Drive. We also took an open quiz that wasn’t really a quiz but more of an outline or strategy based way of outlining our thought process for the future of our semester. Following we have created this blog to update and post our reflections for each weeks module. I feel kind of cool having my own blog, but anyways reflecting. I have decided to start my spreadsheet days on Monday’s just because I feel that I could get a better grasp of my week and how I use my time everyday throughout the week. But I am also very interested on seeing what I record myself doing. Other than assignments Module 2 had to do with how we interact with others online “Netiquette,” or the way we present ourselves online when speaking with others. Since people cannot hear, see or understand our tones, it is advised to refer from using slang and other forms of shortening speech. Another big interest I had was “Group Communication” I didn’t realize that even after college that we would still continue on with group tasks which I don’t really have an issue with. But sometimes I prefer to work on my own sometimes but I can work with other people. Those are some of the things that stood out to me in Module 2.
