My experience as an Ecological Engineer is just beginning. I have an extensive knowledge of ecosystems and have worked closely with professionals of The Ohio State University to help further understand how to improve designs of existing Ecological Engineer systems. As an undergraduate of The Ohio State University, I was a part of a capstone design project team that helped restore parts of Carmack Woods by removing invasive species of honeysuckle from the surrounding area. Volunteers were able to come out and plant trees and clean out the pond in the woods to help restore this small natural ecosystem.
I was able to gain invaluable teamwork experience from not only my capstone team but also from my Engineering classes as they often put us into teams to solve a modern problem or come up with an efficient design. My second-year engineering class had us build an energy efficient vehicle that could go around a track while stopping at certain obstacles along the way. As a team, I was able to learn cooperation and effective communication skills in order to complete this objective.
