About Me

Greetings! My name is Angelina Atieh and I am a third-year Eminence Fellow & Stamps Scholar at The Ohio State University. Currently, I am majoring in Biomedical Science, which a cohort of driven students working to pursue medical-related research, and I am also minoring in Design Thinking. I hope that my undergraduate experience will meld my pre-medical coursework and research with an intimate understanding of the design processes that impact the health and wellness of people all around the world.

For the past 8 months, I worked in Dr. Jennifer Leight’s Biomedical Engineering Lab on a project titled “Click Chemistry Functionalization of Self-Assembling Peptide Hydrogels,” which is an in vitro tool designed to facilitate cancer research on the 3D tumor microenvironment. Fun fact: the scientists who derived Click Chemistry recently won a Nobel Peace Prize!

Currently, I am involved in Dr. Devina Purmessur’s Spinal Therapeutics Lab, exploring how cellular reprogramming using engineered extracellular vesicles can treat discogenic back pain. This research has led to numerous opportunities where I was able to shadow Dr. Safdar Khan, the leading orthopedic surgeon at OSU Wexner Center.  I am also the Chief Clinical Director and Head of UI/UX Design of Pelorus Health, a start-up company focused on pediatric diabetic health management.

As you can probably tell, my passions span a large range of subjects such as social entrepreneurship, health equity, design, and biomedical engineering. Ohio State truly is the place to be if you are interested in crafting an interdisciplinary curriculum personalized to you!

  1. This student needs to learn that if she is to become a healthcare provider, she will need to see all people as human beings and treat them to the absolute best of her ability regardless of their religious or ethnic identity and regardless of their political views. I hope she has learned that lesson after being exposed for making hateful and cruel remarks.

  2. This person made very antisemitic and sexist remarks on social media, writing humiliating comments about Israeli female hostages who might have been sexually assaulted by the terrorists. She does not have the ability to empathize with people who don’t agree with her politics and is not someone I would ever want to see as a patient (and would warn others to stay away as well).

  3. FREE PALESTINE! I applaud this woman for standing up against the tyrant fascist dictator who commits genocide as we speak. These two idiots commenting don’t know their left from their right. They’re either evangelicals or Zionists. Both horrible, horrible people.

    1. IN ANY NEWSCAST, REPLACE ISRAEL’S NAME WITH ANY OTHER COMBATANT… TOO SEE IDF’S EFFORTS ARE EXTRAORDINARILY VIRTUOUS!!! STAY STRONG ISRAEL.🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱The people conquered by the Muslims usually faced a choice. They could denounce their religion and convert to Islam, pay a tax to continue practicing their beliefs, become a slave, or be executed. Most chose to convert.#THINK!! Hamas either didn’t include Gazan citizens in their massacre plans or THEY DID! If they didn’t …they doomed them to a calculated genocidal war crime, THUS KILLING x000s of BABIES…..SICKENING!!

If THEY DID… then Gazans are complicit in BABY SLAUGHTER.

  4. Never forgot when she posted saying the hostages “looked like a school field trip” and an image of someone crying with “zionists when they get their a$$ clapped by h@mas.” These are the words of a real peace-loving person who clearly is not incredibly hateful! How are we ever to achieve peace for all when this is the narrative your student proudly yells out? Insane that OSU supports her scholarship.

  5. إيران والكلاب الحثالة (حماس) سوف تتعفن في الجحيم!! وكذلك سوف أصدقائهم!
