G.O.A.L.S.

The G.O.A.L.S. of Samir Atai:

  • Global Awareness: I wish to cultivate and increase my global awareness on the largest scale possible; this feat will require a great deal of effort that I will endeavor to undertake. With a keen scene of global awareness, I will gain a perspective on the circumstances and lifestyles of people worldwide. To achieve this, I plan to take various courses regarding world ethics of the past and present in addition to studying societal culture.
  • Original Inquiry: As an Arts & Science Honors and pre-medicine student, the pursuit of original inquiry is both a personal interest and a necessary activity for my future. During my first year, I wish to acquaint myself with my various professors and gain insight into their respective fields of science in addition to their personal research. I plan to join a research lab within my undergraduate studies that will allow me to creatively and scientifically devise an issue in today’s society that can be solved with the application of the scientific method.
  • Academic Enrichment: Rigorous coursework with dedication will aid in a student’s pursuit of success while in college and beyond. As a future doctor, I plan to take various, difficult courses in an effort to better my study skills and academic prosperity. Additionally, difficult coursework results in a more coherent knowledge of whichever subject being studied. As I continue to strive for success in college, demanding classes that require great responsibility and academic integrity will always be included in my curriculum.
  • Leadership Development: As a member of the Pre-Med Club, I will pursue any opportunity given to gain leadership experience. Volunteering within this club allows me to gain such experience through group efforts to benefit the community. The service will help both my ability to communicate with other individuals in addition to being able to critically think in demanding situations. Once again, these skills are invaluable to both an application to medical school and to my own future performance as a doctor. While in my undergraduate studies, I will shadow doctors to learn about the general occupation while gaining direct experience for myself.; also, this experience greatly aids in developing my medical school resumé.
  • Service Engagement: Overall, service engagement is greatly important to my current and future success. Presently, I am in the process of becoming a volunteer at my local hospital; this will give me a perfect opportunity to develop professional relationships while proving my ability as a reliable and hardworking student.
