About Me

Alexandria (Ola) Asuan is a second-year undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Honors Medical Anthropology with a Dance minor. Ola is one of 23 first-year students chosen to be class of 2025’s Eminence Fellows. She plans on attending graduate school to receive a PhD in Medical Anthropology with the ultimate goal of becoming a Medical Researcher.

Ola is from Aurora, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and graduated from Metea Valley High School in 2021. She was involved with various clubs and organizations including Principal’s Advisory Board, being on the leadership board of Fresh Connect, and was President of her Orchesis Dance Team. Her time in high school motivated Ola to become involved in campus life at Ohio State. She has voluteered as a Hospital Ambassador at the Wexner Medical Center. She is also a member of Dance Connection, a student-led dance organization that puts on showcases throughout the school year.  She has also worked with Dr. Anais Roque on research examining water insecurity in colonias on the US-Mexico border and examining power outages and extreme weather events with health and mortality outcomes in disaster-prone regions of the United States, specifically the U.S. gulf coast.
