Suicide Prevention REACH Training
Through my involvement in the club Volunteers Around the World, I had the opportunity to undergo Suicide Prevention REACH Training. This training session went over the telltale signs of persons dealing with harmful and suicidal thoughts or actions. We learned how to help those in need and direct individuals to professional aid as well. I received a certification as a Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper. I believe that this is a very important certification and very important training that all students, faculty, and staff should undergo as mental health in college students are at a concerning low. I plan to continue to stay educated and informed in order to help those struggling with their mental health and help our community grow. This training will also help me in the future as I join the medical field as I can make connections between patients’ physical and mental health.
