Hi everyone, my name is Lauryn and I’m from central Jersey! Even though I’m 8 hours away from home, I chose OSU because of the amazing Political Science program, resources, and the campus culture. The honors program has also provided me with even more opportunities and a rewarding experience in terms of academics and community. I am a pre-law student, and I plan to pursue law school after graduation! As a freshman, my preparation has only gone as far as exploring specializations in the field and trying to take courses and participate in organizations that can help me learn and continue the skills I need in law school. Speaking of organizations, I am the current Marketing Chair for the RBBH Community Council and a member of the ASC Student Council, CASA, RHAC, Interdisciplinary Creative Collective, and Ctrl+Paint! I love doing arts and crafts like jewelry making, drawing, and junk journaling. Other hobbies I have include skiing, playing badminton, playing piano and viola, and photography/videography :) All of my friends will tell you my storage is practically nonexistent. Some of my favorite experiences here at OSU have been going to the hockey games with my friends and joining the John Glenn Civic Leadership LLC! It is honestly such a great way to foster community and get to know people who have similar interests to you. I know it can be kind of scary to jump in and start doing all of this stuff, especially at a huge school like OSU, but don’t be afraid to say yes sometimes and join that club or go out with your friends. Going off of that, not every extracurricular has to be academic! Don’t forget to cultivate your interests as well and do things you enjoy and are comfortable with.
