Third Week and RHS Chelsea Flower Show!

Hi Everyone!

Week three has passed by in London Colney at the Arsenal Training Grounds.

At the training grounds, it was busy with corporate events due to the ongoing renovation of Emirates Stadium in London. I mostly mowed the new areas of fields with the triplex and primo/walk-behind mowers during my short 4-day work week.

But the big thing that happen to me this week was a once in a lifetime invitation to attend the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show! Thanks to the Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG), I attended a morning seminar during the show about engaging the young people to be involved in the different areas of horticulture like in Turfgrass with social media.

After attending the seminar, I spend most of the day exploring and learning the different gardens and the numerous selection of plants exhibited in the show. The show itself takes place at the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. The royal family occasionally attend a preview of the show and this year celebrated Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday.

It was really cool seeing the different gardens and enjoying a glimpse of the horticulture importance in England from the flower show. Hope to get an opportunity to go to the Chelsea Flower Show again in the near future.

  1. Delighted you enjoyed / appreciated the Chelsea Flower Show Amanda, it’s a very unique event. This all came about thanks to Dan Prest, the IOG Education officer, who reached out to me. He’s a past intern of the program and the network of Buckeyes in Britain pays off one more time, thanks to Dan.
