My name is Michael Arndt, and I am a first year student at the Ohio State University. I am 18 years old. I am from Cleveland, Ohio, but more specifically Westlake, Ohio. I have two older sisters named Adrienne (25) and Meredith (23). My parents names are Scott and Marie. We have a Yorkie Poo named Nala, who is eight years old. I went to Saint Ignatius High School. My favorite things to do are hang out with friends, watch Netflix, and eat. My favorite shows are American Horror Story, Black Mirror, and The Good Place. My favorite food is any type of Asian food, specifically General Tso’s, Sweet and Sour Chicken and sushi. I am currently an Engineering Undeclared student. I enjoy being in HES because it gives me a sense of community in a place that is so large. My favorite part of OSU so far is the amount of freedom I have. I also like that I do not have any classes before 10 am or after 5 pm. I am so grateful that I was able to pick a schedule that works so well for me. I do not know what I want to do with my life yet, but I am so excited for my next few years here. I am ready for what is to come.
Through the CliftonStrengths test, I found that my top five strengths were: Empathy, Adaptability, Strategic, Restorative, and Deliberative. Empathy was my top strength. I found that the description was a good representation of me. Whenever my friends have problems, I always try to be there to listen and hear their side. I try to understand them as best as possible. When I first saw that #2 was Adaptability, I was taken aback. I am usually not good with change. I can adapt, but it takes time. The description told me that it means that I take what comes my way and live in the moment. This is very true. Strategic was very accurate as well. It said that I see the many solutions to a problem, and choose the one with the best outcome. I am usually able to see the consequences to actions and easily pick the right choice. Restorative is also very true of me. I love solving puzzles and personal problems. I love to help people make their way through what life throws at them. Deliberative was almost as true as my #1. It could have easily been my second strength. I am very private and I can be selective of who I am friends with. I don’t trust easily, but when I do, I trust a lot. I am also very careful of my actions. I like to think through all the consequences and see what would work out best for me and the other people involved.
