Mountaineering Club Trip to Moab, UT

Way back during Welcome Week I was walking around the OSU Activities Fair and I happened to grab a button and put my name on the email list for the Mountaineers at Ohio State.  Several months later, I’m not sure how I got so lucky.  Since joining the club I’ve been to Kentucky, West Virginia, Florida, Utah, and Colorado.  I’ve made so many new friends and had so many incredible experiences with the Mountaineers and the OAC, none of which would have happened had I not picked up that button.

For Spring Break, I went on the Mountaineers trip to Moab, Utah.  We drove 28 hours straight, got one parking ticket, backpacked about 25 miles in two days, climbed and bouldered, and spent a day learning to highline.  Going out into the backcountry always prompts me to pause and reflect on my life, I don’t think I’ve ever been a part of something where I’ve felt like I belonged as much as I do in the Mountaineers.  Or really at Ohio State.  People always say these are supposed to be the best years of our lives, and that’s a lot of pressure.  I came to OSU looking for a fresh start and I can confidently say this has been the best year of my life.  I’m so grateful for the Mountaineers and OAC, the Humanities Scholars, my wonderful friends, and all of the other wonderful things I’ve been a part of this year.  Here’s to another year of adventures and to only getting better from here!
