Integrated Forage Management Team

Hay Bales

Brief description of your team:

The Integrated Forage Management Team has been very effective in the past, having records of tremendous activity and impact with forage-based producers of Ohio. We have had active participation with researchers, state specialists, and educators (but recently this has been much less active due to lack of team meetings). There are many new educators actively working in forage education and on-farm research, so the potential for new team members is great.

Who are the leaders of this team and their name.#:

Mark Sulc.2, Clif Little.16, Christine Gelley.2

What are your main deliverables?

Deliverables include beginning and advanced grazing schools and workshops (including hands-on training), forage workshops, training videos, webinars, train-the-trainer curriculum, newsletter articles, pasture walks, factsheets and bulletins on forage topics. On-farm and on-station research is also important to address important forage issues and questions in the state.

We do have an updated and relatively actively managed website, https://forages.osu.edu

Do you have a regular meeting time and link to that meeting?

Recently, this team has not been active in terms of meeting and planning educational programming in a coordinated and regular state-wide fashion. Individual members continue active programming in forages (either individually or regionally working in smaller groups), but whole team coordination and activity has not happened for several years.
