episode 7: herpetology and conservation with Nathan

I got to chat with one of my friends, Nathan, about reptiles! Nathan has done quite a bit of conservation work in Illinois in a few different capacities and is incredibly knowledgeable in the herpetology arena. We discussed some conservation projects and some of our past research involvements, so enjoy! You can find Nathan’s wildlife photography on Instagram here.

episode 6: Best Food Forward and food accessibility with Christina

Hi, everyone! In this episode, I get to chat with Christina Allen, one of the co-presidents of Best Food Forward (BFF), a student organization here on campus. BFF’s mission is as follows.

Our mission is to combat food insecurity and foster community engagement by organizing bulk produce purchasing within the Ohio State community.

As defined by Feeding America, food insecurity describes a household’s inability to provide enough food for every person to live an active, healthy life. Food insecurity is one way we can measure and assess the risk of hunger. Christina and I discussed her involvement with BFF and the problems the org addresses, such as food insecurity. episode 5: Students of Color Environmental Collective with Diego and Kiana

Surprise! Today is a Saturday. And yet, I have a new episode that I’m super excited for, so it’s getting uploaded today.

In this episode, I spoke with Diego and Kiana, two students at the University of California, Berkeley. They both are active in the Students of Color Environmental Collective (SCEC), an organization focused on providing space for students of color in different movements, and SCEC served as the main topic of our conversation today. More specifically, as described on its website, SCEC “centers marginalized voices in environmental and social justice movements to dismantle systems of oppression and regenerate systems of life.”

Here is SCEC’s website. You can check out SCEC’s Facebook page here and its Instagram account @scecberkeley. Thank you, Diego and Kiana!
