While the Fisher School of Business’s slogan is “Go Beyond”, that phrase has held meaning to me long before becoming a Fisher Direct. During my junior and senior year of high school I was the President of the nonprofit called Go Beyond Barrington, an organization dedicated to empowering communities in need. Each year our organization would choose a beneficiary to focus our efforts on and we would spend the year raising funds as well as awareness before spending our spring break volunteering for the organization. As President, I was in charge of running board meetings, fundraising, donation campaigns, and speaking on behalf of our organization. During my two year presidency we were able to donate $20,000 on behalf of Washington Tornado Relief Fund, and Pathfinders of Milwaukee. While this accomplishment sounds great on paper, this was no easy task to accomplish.

After being involved with this organization for two years, I thought that my presidency would only be a small time addition. I thought that my presidency would only be a small step up from my vice presidency. I could not have been more wrong. Through my presidency I realized the importance of group unity and harmony, but realized that if I were to always be pleasing everyone, then I would be doing my job wrong. I realized that results and outcomes matter, but the journey to get there is just as important in a different aspect. Ultimately through trial and error I learned about all of the fine lines that make up the world around me. I learned that they’re are no absolutes but at the end of the day, hard work pays off.

Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. G.O.A.L.S.

Ever since I entered my senior year of high school I have not been able to go one week without someone asking me the dreaded question: what is your major? While I have no idea what my major is, what specific college I want to be in, or what I want to do with with my life this doesn’t take away from the goals that I do have and how they relate to honors and scholars curriculum here at OSU. G.O.A.L.S. stands for global awareness, original inquiry, academic enrichment, leadership development, and service engagement. My plans at my time here at The Ohio State University are in correspondence with these G.O.A.L.S.  I do not think my college experience would be complete without studying abroad, so I plan on studying abroad next summer. To me original inquiry is a matter of just thinking differently.  By joining various organizations, one in particular called SCNO (Students Consulting for Nonprofit Organizations) I am able to view the world of business and nonprofits differently. I plan on eventually getting a leadership position in this organization thus engaging in leadership development. While my academics is a little up in the air right now, I plan on diversifying my course load and finding something that sets my heart on fire. In addition to finding that academic passion I would like to volunteer for a cause that also makes me motivated to become a better person each and everyday.

Career

[“Career” is where you can collect information about your experiences and skills that will apply to your future career.  Like your resume, this is information that will evolve over time and should be continually updated.   For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. About Me

My name is Katherine Andraschko and I could not be more excited about my time here at OSU!  As an out-of-state student from a suburb of Chicago, I cannot wait to learn all about the traditions here at Ohio State and take part in them all, especially the football games.  I am currently a Business Undecided Major through the Fisher School of Business, a Mount Scholar, and an Associate Consultant for SCNO (Students Consulting for Nonprofit Organizations). Check out this blog to learn more about me and my time here at OSU!
