As someone who doesn’t usual blog, it is interesting now having what I imagine is suppose to be a fairly professional-esq blog. Isn’t that a hilarious thought. But the below are my initial impressions from monkeying around. Partially as a test, partially as a reference for me to remember somethings later should I ever need it.

The first thing I noticed were the sample posts. I’m generally eager to get rid of the off the bat stuff, it’s nice to have an example, but I feel like it makes the blog look like I haven’t done anything… Not that i had yet, but I felt like I was being accused of being lazy, so the first act of business was deleting all the sample stuff.

So I got this thing up and working and dived into the nooks and crannies of how it works, trying to figure out how to better bend it to my will.
The first thing that I noted was what seems to be an issue with animated images. GIFs uploaded to the site don’t animate within a post. Not sure why. But to get around it, you can use a url to provide the image from a site, such as http://imgur.com , where they allow direct links to the hosted image and voila! Animation.
On further testing, this doesn’t apply to every gif. Out of 5 gifs I uploaded, 2 worked. I haven’t quite figured out what the difference is, but my guess would a resolution of file size issue. I’m goofing around, don’t expect actually tables of data right now :p .

In my adventures I also noticed that the theme is fairly locked, which is unfortunate for me but an understandable decision overall.

Also, having deleted the original hello world post, but not the comment on the post, I noticed that the comment still showed under “Recent comments” but on clicking the link, received a page indicating the post no longer existed. Not surprising since I deleted it, but surprising to see it there after a few minutes had passed. Not sure if it’ll go away…

Well enough toying around for one day.
