There are still many roles of handcrafts in the Andes today. For example, it helps the economy for art and handcrafts to exist in the Andes. However, a lot of goods are not being manufactured because it is a lot cheaper. The materials for handcrafts are expensive to be shipped and it is easier to buy crafts and art that were already made. However, even though it is expensive the crafts are still made for social and cultural importance.
Andean crafts are still important because of the social aspects. Crafts and art can still be done in group settings within a community. Community building is done through many ways, but crafts and art is one of the specific ways. This is because art shows emotion and depth of what a community has gone through. The significance of social qualities of art today in the Andes is that art can also be observed through group settings. Through social importance, there is also cultural importance.
The handcrafts of the Andes is used in a cultural sense. The art shows what the culture has to offer and their views on life. Culture is the premise of tradition, especially in the Andes. Their beliefs of many gods is apart of the culture and is portrayed through the art. The art and handcrafts also emphasizes what they think is beautiful within the culture and people itself.
