Hi everyone and welcome to my blog!
Just a quick bio of me! I am a mother of a two year old boy named Cameron Jace, who keeps me as busy as possible! I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio so I am a Buckeye in and out, forever! I am a part time student at the university and I work full time as a Patient Care Associate (PCA) at the university hospital and I’ve been there for about 2 and a half years. I am not a “traditional” student, I commute from home which is about 20 minutes South-East in Canal Winchester, and I am not taking the most traditional route to my degree. I am a nursing major, but I haven’t applied to start nursing school yet but soon to come!
Going into college I was undecided, but as soon as I started working as a PCA at the hospital I realized it was a field I wanted to be in forever. I would like to go for my Masters in Nursing after I complete my 4 year degree. I am not completely sure about what type of nursing I would like to do but I’ve got it narrowed down. My number one option is becoming a Forensic Nurse Practitioner, since I decided I wanted to do nursing this was something I was interested in from the start. It’s some what of a mix between healthcare and criminal justice, and it is a nurse that works with all ages which is something I’d prefer. My second option is becoming an Emergency room nurse practitioner, this is something I gained interest in after working at the hospital. I am in the float pool, meaning I float to all the different units in the hospital, so after floating to the Emergency Department just a few times, I fell in love with the environment, patient base, employees, and work. I’ve still got plenty of time to decide on an path, so I will continue to do research and gain experience until it is time to make a decision.
