Module 7: Maintaining Motivation Blog Post

Heyyyo people of the intraweb,

Final blog post 🙁 I am sad. But anyways, let us get into it,

So for this module it was all about motivation, and it is probably my favorite module from the entire semester, as it really made me think about what I do when I study and how I can improve upon it. By far my favorite lesson was how to create a playlist that is built for studying. I used to listen to music when I study but it was always music that would distract me or would make me sing along, which in turn made me kill a lot of precious time that I was unable to get back. Overall, I have a playlist now and it’s so dope and I can not wait to try it out. Another useful teaching was about cutting out distractions, and I think I am a pro at that now. I finally learned how to turn do not disturb on on my Mac, and I have it on right now so I do not stop until I finish this blog. I think that this is a great lesson for all kids who are trying to study with how much technology surrounds them today, and I hope you try it out to.

But anyway,

I bid you farewell and good fortune, and I hope you enjoyed the ride.

Module 6 Searching and Researching Blog Post

What’s up ladies and gents,

This week was all about doing research and finding quality articles for schoolwork. I was very happy to do this module at this time as I am writing a research paper in my ARTED Criticizing TV, so this was kind of perfect timing. I really liked learning and using the OSU library system (https://library.osu.edu), as I have never really tried it out before. I normally just used EBSCOhost as my high school had access to it so I was comfortable using it and had never tried doing something else. I also really liked the little discussion post we had to do, as it the skills that we learned in the lesson be put to use.

As for the other assignment we had, I see myself using my guidebook a lot. The guidebook will be very useful this year as I have just declared my major and it will become more and more challenging as I begin to get into the upper level classes, and I see myself referring back to my guidebook when I am in need of help and something to make me focus and bring my studies together. I am very excited to have this tool in my back pocket and am excited for school to start again.

Until next week peeps,

Web-Enhanced Listening and Viewing Strategies: Module 5

What’s up people, module five coming at ya!

So in this module, we learned all about note taking skills and ways to enhance the ways we take notes in the classroom and online, and this module was very interesting and helpful to me. The most useful tool that I learned in this way was the cornell style of taking notes. While I usually write notes in an outline form, but I am going to give the cornell style a shot when I get back to school. I think that it is a very interesting way to take notes, and I think the class that I am going to try it out in will be my science class this fall, weather and climate. I think that cornell notes are made for science classes, and that outline notes are perfect for more uniform classes like history and english. As for advice for any future students, it is to save the link or URL to the video that we had to watch on note taking from Indiana. It was a very interesting and helpful video, and I think that it can help anyone if they have a hard time taking notes to just go back and re watch the video to see the different styles of notes, why they are useful, and what exactly they are.
