About Me

My name is Simran Ambwani and I am from Dublin, Ohio (around 20 minutes away from OSU). My major is Health Sciences and I hope to go on the pre-optometry track for grad school in hopes to become an optometrist. I am really excited to get to know everyone and get involved around campus; I am incredibly thankful to be part of this scholars program that offers so many opportunities now and will for the future. The four pillars of STEM are what I am really interested in, so I am looking forward to going to events with STEM aspects. I hope this E-portfolio will help me with professional development and will display who I am to others.

Some of my hobbies are running, biking, and hanging out with my friends/family. I ran cross country and track and field all four years of high school, so I really like to run. Running has gotten me through tough moments in life and has taught me how to be strong, determined, and hardworking. I enjoy being involved as well. I was involved in many clubs in high school like Student Council, NHS, Senior Cabinet, and a Freshman mentor program. They all had a large impact on me so, I hope to join clubs similar to these in college. Additionally, I enjoy volunteering; I have worked with children a lot at different volunteering events, therefore I love being around them.

Although I have many hobbies and like being involved in clubs, academics always comes first for me. Some of my favorite subjects in highschool were chemistry and biology, hence why my major is health sciences. However, I also like math related subjects, but I think they are very challenging. One of my strengths is learning and I feel like I am a determined learner because I love learning about new subjects/ideas.

I always attempt to meet and talk to new people because I love meeting new people and having new experiences. Therefore, I am really excited to get to know everyone in this scholars program.
