  1. Wow – I think this experiment worked well for you Ali! There are many nuances of your mark-making within each of these squares to pay attention to. I see some landscapes emerging in this drawing? Perhaps this grid is actually a map!

I am interested to know which tool was your favorite – you will find that some tools work better than others, so feel free to incorporate more as you make your still life. And notice also how the density of mark-making (or the quality of a thin vs. thick line) also corresponds with how you might develop light or dark areas on the page. Diluting the ink with water a bit will also allow you to develop even more variation and expand the gradient possible on your value scale!

    1. Thanks so much!
I really liked this blog. I have tried to do my best. I tried to express my emotion about the riot that we had in our congress previously in the center of my art. In addition, I have tried to express the lady who got shot and killed in the chaos in Congress. Also, I tried to show the two beautiful landscape in Montana and Colorado which we have a mountain (I was shocked how some people had come from these two states to participate in a riot in Congress).
My favorite tool was an orange skin since it is spongy and it will keep the ink inside itself for a longer time as well as the orange wood stick. The orange skin will actually release the ink depends on how much pressure we put on it.

Thank you again for your thoughtful and helpful comment!

      1. Thanks for adding more context to your process here! I do see that tension between chaos and beauty here. Drawing can be a great place to work out the complicated emotions we have about the world / current news. It is sad such tragedy is present in a world that is also so beautiful.
