Welcome to Alendre´ McGhee’s Teaching e-Portfolio!
This portfolio will provide information on my views, thoughts and philosophies on clinical teaching along with my personal experience, accomplishments and interests.
I am currently a student in the DNP program at The Ohio State University and a clinical instructor of practice. I have over 12 years of teaching experience to include teaching students enrolled in medical assisting, billing and coding, phlebotomy, and nursing programs. Prior to becoming an instructor in the healthcare profession, I officially began my journey of being a trainer while assigned as a dedicated trainer for new hires for a company in Miamisburg, OH who joined the customer support team. So I have to credit that organization with opening my eyes to my love for helping others to learn and achieve goals. I have taught at proprietary institutions, community college and as mentioned above this is my first semester at OSU and I could not be more excited! Go Bucks!
I personally enjoy teaching for various reasons to include helping others to achieve career goals as well as learning to take care of others are nurse or advanced practice provider. I also strongly believe that with the shortage of nurse faculty instructors, I can give back to the profession by being an instructor just as an instructor was willing to help me learn.
I live in Trotwood, OH which is approximately 75 miles west of Columbus and am a native Ohioan. My husband and I have four children, 3 girls (29, 27 and 22) and 1 son (20) along with 5 grandchildren (3 girls and 2 boys) with grandchild #6 due in October. Our daughters are all nurses and our son who is a junior at Kent State University working towards his degree in Exercise Science. In my free time, I enjoy reading, listening to music, sleeping, watching sports and trying to get myself back into a fitness routine. I am a diehard Buckeyes and Steelers fan!
Anyway, thanks for stopping by to review my portfolio and stay tuned for more information about me this project grows over the semester.
