About Me

Panera

Hello! My name is Albie Buckeye. I am a garden gnome that grew up on beautiful front lawn, where I often liked to people-watch and hang out with fake geese. I am a fourth-year in both the Honors program and the Garden Relations Scholars program. I am majoring in Outdoor Diplomacy and hoping to find a career that will allow me to promote peace and a sense of community among lawn decorations. Over the past few years, I have taken many honors courses that have confirmed my passion for this, but I have also gotten a chance to take classes that focus on other topics, such as my Urban Garden Geography class.

Through Honors & Scholars, I have participated in a lot of exciting events. I lived in the Lincoln honors community during my first year, which got me more involved as a member of the Hall Council. I also studied abroad on London Honors as a first year student, which inspired me to continue to travel.  Through various programs, I have also met some really amazing faculty who recently helped me get an internship designing hats for garden gnomes like myself. Even though the internship made me realize that gnome fashion is not the career path I would be most excited about, it got me some valuable work experience and prepared me for getting a full-time job after graduation.

Of course, I do not spend all my time here in a classroom listening to lectures. I have also found time to get involved with Gnome Culture Club and I play on the lawn-decorations-only intramural football team. My other hobbies include planting fruits and vegetables, and hiding around campus for Honors & Scholars students to find me. My favorite movie is Gnomeo and Juliet and my favorite television shows are Better Homes and Gardens and Veggie Tales.

I have had a great time pursuing my academic and extracurricular interests over the past four years and I cannot wait to see what my future holds.
