Useful Online Technologies:

Technology Tool #1: Google Keep

Google Keep is a tool that allows you to store all of your notes and reminders in one place. There are several positives that come along with using this application. For starters, you are able to color code and organize your notes in a manner that makes sense to you. You can also establish reminder times and dates along with virtual checklists that offer the ability to check off items as they are completed. There are some criticisms that I have with the application. Text formatting is not a plausible option when using Keep notes. Users are unable to undo changes that they make to their notes/reminders. Also, the app is limited to a few tags for any notes that you may have.

Technology Tool #2: Study Manager

Study manager is a tool that can be really effective for students that are currently enrolled in online coursework, or just want to practice better time management and accountability skills. This application is beneficial in allowing users to establish desired days and times to complete particular assignments. The app also sends out notifications asking “Are you studying?” to hold students accountable for pre-existing commitments to coursework. Unfortunately, this app is in the beta stages of its development. This means that the app may not allow users to have access to scheduling features, and occasionally the accountability prompts do not appear on your device’s home screen. Overall, the app is sound in its intentions to bring an opportunity for students to plan their time accordingly in terms of academics.

Technology Tool #3: Trello

Trello is an application that allows you to organize your tasks based on several categories: Things to do, currently doing, completed and in general stuff. I find this app very useful in regards to its organization and capacity to separate my workload into several categories. The app also lets you establish “boards” or categories of your life that you need to complete tasks. You can have a board for school, sports, work or whatever else is important in your life. Some additions I would like to see involve a more simplistic system. The categories often display too much information in regards to my direct activity. I would like to see an updated system that keeps information display more concise and relevant to material that I would want to access.
