2018 Conference: Call for Proposals

AGPA Conference 2018: Breaking Barriers

Thursday, July 12 | 9:00am-4:30pm

The Association of Graduate and Professional Administrators (AGPA) is a professional network of administrators involved with graduate and professional education at The Ohio State University. AGPA invites our colleagues from Ohio State and institutions across the state of Ohio to our 2nd AGPA Summer Conference: Breaking Barriers. This all day conference will take place in Columbus, Ohio on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Ohio Union on The Ohio State University’s campus.  The conference will include a full day of breakout session presentations as well as a presentation by our keynote speaker Dr. Valerie Robinson, Assistant Dean of Graduate Admission at Miami University.

Conference Theme: Breaking Barriers
This year’s conference focuses on identifying barriers to student success and addressing strategies for overcoming these obstacles. Intentionally broad, this theme will allow professionals from diverse backgrounds to bring their unique ideas and experiences to the event. What sorts of barriers (institutional, sociocultural, fiscal, etc.) have you encountered in your efforts to support students and/or develop your program? How have you or your team overcome these barriers? Did you work across units to overcome an obstacle? Did you face resistance? The conference will address these topics and more.

Call for Proposals
AGPA is seeking proposals from our colleagues at OSU and other institutions across the state as a way to enhance graduate and professional education statewide by sharing best practices that promote cross-unit collaboration, applying current research in our approach to supporting graduate and professional education, and promoting individual professional development. You are encouraged to submit a proposal, and to share this call with contacts at other institutions.
