During the second lab of the Preliminary R&D, process sensors were added to the reference AEV built from the previous lab. This was done to determine how far the AEV moved during the specific run. The specific scenario for this lab wanted the AEV to be coded to move 12 feet. The AEV is programmed to work in a unit that is called marks. There is a conversion that was given to us to determine how many marks are in one foot. This was used to convert the feet into marks. The group had a few issues when completing this task because we first did not round our marks to a closest whole number. The way that the group was able to determine that it was a problem by testing the AEV and the AEV did not stop. After investigating our problem, we determined that the marks need to be in whole number for the AEV to stop at the right distance. This could cause error because there would be a few tenths of a mark that would be missing which would affect in inches how our AEV moves.
