*Team meeting notes not present for labs 6,7, and 9 as no progress report was due as the Lab Proficiency Quiz, Preliminary Design Report Presentation and Preliminary Design Report were covered instead*

Team Meeting Notes (Week 1)

The team met on the second floor of Drackett Tower on Tuesday at 7:00 PM. Christian Meadows was responsible for taking note of everything said during the meeting. Andy Carper discussed the importance of the call functions that were seen in Lab 01 and briefed the team on some of the new functions that will be seen going into Lab 02. The team specifically went over external sensor hardware and their corresponding function calls. Troubleshooting techniques were also mentioned in the event of an uploading error during Lab 02. Kody Williamson and Grant Centlivre then discussed the design of the AEV and what would give it the greatest efficiency while mounted on the track. Together, the team then assembled the AEV in preparation for Lab 02. At the end of the meeting, the team decided to meet the same time on January 31st.

Team Meeting Notes (Week 2)

The team met on the second floor of Drackett Tower on Tuesday,  at 7:00 PM. Similar roles were assumed from the previous week. Christian Meadows was in charge of recording team meeting notes. Andy Carper went over the basics of orthographic drawings with the information that was given in the lab manual . Grant Centlivre and Kody Williamson discussed a few of topics found in Lab 03 that specifically covered creative design thinking. This sparked a conversation about the two common techniques that are used in creative design thinking. These two techniques include generating useful ideas and then communicating these ideas. The team then reassembled the AEV due to its lack of balance on the track during Lab 02. This problem was fixed by moving the Arduino board and battery in a place that evenly distributes the weight on the AEV. At the end of the meeting, Kody Williamson mentioned that Dr. Herak recommended all students to take notes during the lecture portion of lab. Consequently, it was decided that Christian Meadows would take notes for Lab 03 in order to gain insight on the lab. The team decided to meet again at 6:00 PM on Tuesday of February 7th.

Team Meeting Notes (Week 3)

The team met in the study area on floor two in Drackett Tower at 6:00 PM as planned in the previous week. At the beginning of the meeting, Christian Meadows was given the task of taking notes again. The team then compared the individual orthographic sketches. Andy Carper noted that while the appearance of the AEV is something to consider, getting the AEV from point A to point B in an efficient way should be the main focus. The team as a whole discussed what kind of design would provide the best balance for the AEV since each member created their own sketch. In preparation for Lab 04, Kody Williamson and Andy Carper briefed the team of the Matlab functions that would be required for Lab 04. This decision was made solely because of their major being computer science and engineering. Grant Centlivre and Christian Meadows were in charge of choosing the final design out of the two orthographic designs that Kody and Andy chose as their favorite two. Christian Meadows and Grant Centlivre’s roles were chosen based on the fact that they both enjoyed improving the sketches and it was most time efficient if two people worked on this task. Once both tasks were complete, the final design was chosen and the team assembled the AEV to model that design. To further prepare for the next lab, Andy Carper took on the role of explaining how to convert EEProm Arduino data into physical guidelines. The decision for Andy to do this was based on his versatility with programming and his understanding of how to interpret data. At the conclusion of the meeting, the team decided to meet on Tuesday, February 14th, at 6:00 PM in the study section of Drackett Tower.

Team Meeting Notes (Week 4)

Team E met on the second floor of Drackett Tower at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, February 14th. Grant Centlivre led the team in discussing what responsibilities are needed to complete the AEV project and Christian Meadows was in charge of taking notes. While many points were brought up about the responsibilities, the group decided that being prepared for each lab and dividing up work evenly were two key factors in completing this project. Additionally, Kody Williamson mentioned that the team should be setting weekly goals in order to achieve the overall goal for the AEV.

After the discussion, the team began to prepare for Lab 05. Christian Meadows went over concept screening and scoring because he completed the reading and lab quiz early. He showed the team an example of a screening score sheet and then went over the different types of decision methods. These included external decisions, product champion, multi-voting and several other methods. From there, Grant Centlivre discussed some of the benefits that concept scoring can have. He mentioned that a concept scoring is preferred over a screening matrix solely because it provides a better resolution. Grant also said that concept scoring creates certain criteria for the team to focus on for the final design. At the end of this discussion, Andy Carper talked about several parts to improve on the progress reports looking ahead. Andy assumed this job by choice. The meeting ended with the decision to meet again on Tuesday, February 21st, at 7:00 PM in Drackett Tower on the second floor.

Team Meeting Notes (Week 5)

Team E met on the second floor of Drackett Tower at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 21st. At the beginning of the meeting, Christian Meadows assumed the task of taking notes because he has been doing it since the first team meeting. The first task the team completed together was finishing the concept screening chart that was created to help decide the final design of the AEV. The chart showed that Design E was the best choice for design because it had the highest score. Next, Andy Carper briefed the team on how the team could improve going into the next lab with getting the AEV to stop more precisely at the gate.  Andy did this because the coding is on his computer, so he always judges how much power the motors should be set on and for how long they should run. Grant Centlivre and Kody Williamson showed the team the progress on the group’s site. They took on this role in order to make the meeting time efficient. The group then shifted gears, looking forward to the upcoming lab.   After this was complete, the group agreed to meet on the second floor of Drackett Tower at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 28th. The meeting was then adjourned.

Team Meeting Notes (Week 8)

Team E met on the second floor of Drackett Tower at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 7th. This week’s meeting was very brief since the final design of the AEV has basically been decided on. The team verified that the parts to be 3D printed over spring break were indeed the ones that everyone liked. At the beginning of the meeting, Christian Meadows assumed the task of taking notes because he has been doing it since the first team meeting. Kody Williamson discussed expectations of the osu.edu site. From there, the team decided that work would be split up evenly for the site. Christian Meadows was put in charge of writing summaries for Lab 01 through Lab 05. Andy Carper then assumed the remaining summaries for the other labs up to Lab 07. Grant Centlivre was put in charge of documenting all labs after this. These decisions were made to ensure that each person had an equal amount of work for the site. Additionally, Kody Williamson took on the role of the main page for the site. He felt that he has a strong suit with graphics and said he could make the title page noticeable. The team then briefly went over expectations for the PDR and what each person should be expected to do in the next week. It was decided that responsibilities would be split up later in a group chat rather than waiting for the next team meeting. Lastly, the team decided to meet the Tuesday  after next in Drackett Tower on March 21st at 7:00 P.M. The meeting was then adjourned.

Team Meeting Notes (Week 10)

Team E met on the second floor of Drackett Tower at 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 30th. This week’s meeting began with adding new propellers to the AEV. The new propellers are larger, ultimately allowing the AEV to gain speed faster and have a stronger pull when going in reverse. The decision to add these propellers was made by the entire team because the AEV was struggling to pull the cargo with the smaller propellers. This decision ended up paying off, as there is no longer any difficulty returning the cargo. The next task on the agenda for this week’s meeting was to go over everyone’s responsibilities regarding the progress report due. Christian Meadows was put in charge of the team meeting notes and schedule and Andy Carper took on the coding responsibilities because this has been their job for the entire semester. This left the situation section for Grant Centlivre and Kody Williamson. After the bulk of the progress report was completed,  the team had to adjust the code for the AEV when it returns. This had to be done because the new propellers made the AEV speed up faster than before. Lastly, the team decided to meet the Tuesday of April 5th in Drackett Tower at 7:00 P.M. The meeting was then adjourned.

Team Meeting Notes (Week 11)

Team E met on the second floor of Drackett Tower at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 5th. This week’s focused solely on improving the return code in order to achieve consistency. The team concluded that the battery is part of the problem that prevents complete consistency; however, with better coding, the room for error can be minimized. The next task on the agenda for this week’s meeting was to go over everyone’s responsibilities regarding the progress report due. Christian Meadows was put in charge of the team meeting notes and scheudule and Andy Carper took on the coding responsibilities because this has been their job for the entire semester. This left the situation section for Grant Centlivre and Kody Williamson. After a majority of the progress report was done, the team had to adjust the code for the AEV when it starts to stop at each gate. It was already complete, but there was definitely room for improvement. Lastly, the team decided to meet the Thursday of April 13th in Drackett Towert at 7:00 P.M. The meeting was then adjourned.
