Lab 4 – External Sensors

This week the team completed parts for Lab 04. Initial code was developed to control the AEV’s movement on the overhead track system. This allowed for the team to witness full scale tests on the track that revealed unexpected intricacies that occur while on the track.  This troubleshooting process allowed for the team to better understand how to adjust the code for additional movement of the AEV on the track.  Upon completion of testing, the team used the EEPROM to gather data that allows for better coding.  This data helps to determine how to code in order use exact efficient procedures. From this data, tables and graphs were made with MATLAB in order to help with the analysis and to provide better visuals that allow for improved interpretation. Implementation of wind tunnel data was introduced as a way to help improve efficiency. Moving forward this will be an important variable to use in the code as it will require the engineers to use their findings to improve efficiency.

Take Aways

  1. The AEV travels beyond the points at which it is programmed to stop and this needs to be compensated for.
  2. Team needs to work towards developing a more stable design through continued brainstorming
