BLM =/= BLM

Blue life =/= black life :: blue life =/= brown life :: blue life =/= any race of people

Blue life knows no other color than blue.

Blue in painting is a dominant color–even a little bit of it can cause a color to change to some type of blue. Blue creeps. Blue encompasses. Blue overtakes. Blue murders.

I think it is perfectly acceptable to go through a blue phase.

A 12x 12″ square of acrylic blue felt was applied to a sheet of acrylic double sided adhesive sheet and then cut out on the laser. The idea is to make stickers which can then be used in collage.

Success!

The difference between these two is the method of application–the first was hand cut and then adhered to the page via gloss medium. The second was laser cut and then adhered as a sticker.

The black thing (A black log, some black shit, a root, etc etc)

Spray paint and laquer do not go together! This is very important to know and it is a mistake I’m grateful to have not made. Water-based sealers over spray paint and acrylic. Polyurethane over acrylic paint if I don’t mind yellowing. Solvents are tricky! Laquer>lacquer enamel>enamel

Gaffer slot thoughts

Glass has a gaffer slot and I am interested in making shapes like this through working with the glassworker who is offering her services. It’ll be interesting to collaborate with them.

During a studio visit, Alison told me I am developing a particular type of relationships for forms like these. I’m interested to see what’s possible in glass with shapes like these. They’re also a good break from some of the collages I’ve been doing, which is nice.
