Charity Spotlight: Star House
starhousecolumbus.org
Today, 2,000 homeless youth live on the streets of central Ohio, and Star House remains the only drop-in center for them – as well as the only research-based, drop-in center in the country. In 2016, we served 984 individual youth.
Charity Spotlight: Voicecorps
Voicecorps is a 24/7 radio station that provides access to print for people who cannot read the printed word.
“Who do you know who needs Voicecorps?”
According to Vision Problems in the US, there are as many as 42,000 people in range of Voicecorps’ radio signal who cannot use print because of a disability. We’ve found that most often, these are men and women who have experienced vision loss late in life – after a lifetime of independent reading. They are suddenly without coping skills, without access to information, and without assistance, are at extreme risk of isolation and depression. We seek to change that and ask for your help.
Charity Spotlight: Boy Scouts of America
By contributing to Scouting, you will have a profound impact on America. More youth will experience the program that will further instill values and character in their moral fiber. Your gift truly will have a direct impact on our world. Imagine if all of our leaders today lived their lives according to the Scout Oath and Law.
Investing in the Boy Scouts of America creates opportunities for youth to gain memorable experiences and be instilled with values, principles and skills that will help them develop into the future leaders of our nation.
Charity Spotlight: Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity builds decent and affordable homes around the world in partnership with families in need of a decent place to live. Habitat homebuyers help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.
Charity Spotlight: Community Refugee & Immigration Services
Community Refugee & Immigration Services (CRIS) is an independent non-profit organization that serves the growing refugee and immigrant populations in Central Ohio. We have over 60 staff members that hail from more than 15 countries with many languages represented.
Making a financial contribution to CRIS is a direct way to support our program services such as Refugee Health & Wellness, English as a Second Language, Employment Services, Resettlement (housing, airport welcome, school enrollment, etc), Older Adult Refugee and Immigrant Services and other programs that are critical to the mission of our organization.

Charity Spotlight: The Salvation Army in Central Ohio
salvationarmyusa.org/usn/
“I’ve been ringing the bell at Christmastime for the Salvation Army for a few years, but this is going to be the first year I donate via Bucks for Charity. I was inspired by a talk a couple of months ago by one of the coordinators in Hocking County. She gave some examples of how the organization makes use of all the money they collect every December. They help with rent and utilities. They will provide gasoline for people who need to drive up to a Columbus hospital for specialized treatment. They assist with local free community dinners, and admission to the city pool for kids who can’t afford it. So, I’m going to start donating to the central Ohio Salvation Army, to support their mission to “meet human needs.”
