Year in Review

When I look back at my year in review, it is hard to think about one of the best moments from the first couple weeks here. All of it was awesome because I was finally somewhere that I had been looking forward to being since I was a little kid. The most fun was probably move in weekend. At first I was really nervous and as I entered Morrill, I wondered who was going to be in my room and what they were going to be like. Then I got here and met all my roommates and suitemates and we all got along. After that we went outside with our second year families and played sports and did little games to get to know each other and open ourselves up to new things and new people. Through those exercises I got to know people better and start to make friendships that I will never forget. I then realized that I was going to be with these kids for the whole year and at that point in time it all seemed like it was going to be a long year. Now I’m sitting here asking myself where all the time went. After the games we ate a good dinner. The next night we went to the ARC and that was really fun. We played a bunch of games and did the relay race which was interesting. Then to cap off the weekend on Sunday we played the volleyball tournament. It was a lot of fun even though my team didn’t even come close to winning a set. Overall, move in weekend was a success.

Artifacts

There are a couple things that mean a lot to me from that weekend but something that really sticks out to me would be the tassel we got on one of the first days here when all the freshman were gathered in the Schott. As we entered we all got the tassel which symbolized a few things. It symbolized our graduation and that as soon as we walked on this campus, our main goal should be to graduate. It also could symbolize those who had come before us and how they graduated so we are connected forever by being at the same school. I knew that when I got it, I immediately thought how long away graduation is and all the road blocks in the way. But with my first year almost over, I know that the next three years are going to go pretty quickly so I have to enjoy them. The tassel also came with a pin that represented Ohio State and that pin is also very extraordinary because it was the first pin I got here and a little something that will stay with me for my time being here. Those are the first tokens of Ohio State that I got and I hope there are many more that I get to receive by the time I graduate here. When I think of Ohio State I think of opportunities that are also not taken for granted. I will never take my time here for granted because I am lucky to have been given the opportunity.

About Me

My name is Kyle Adler and I am from Cleveland, Ohio. I have three brothers and one thing people don’t know about me is that I am a twin. My other brothers are a junior and a sixth grader. My major is biology with a minor in the classics (Roman and Greek studies). My greatest passions are sports and my family and friends. My family is a lot of fun and I know I can always have a good time when I am with them. I also like helping people and volunteering. One of the coolest things I have done here at Ohio State is Buckeyethon. It was awesome being able to see who we were raising money with and do it with all my friends. I love going to Ohio State football games and attending Columbus Clippers games. I love watching baseball too. Being at baseball games in the summer is so relaxing and something I will always enjoy.
