Volunteer Lunch & Learn Series Coming in April

April is National Volunteer month and we LOVE our 4-H Volunteers! We know there are lots of moving pieces to the 4-H program and want to support our busy volunteers as they do the heavy lifting.

Join 4-H Educators from across southern Ohio for quick, accessible, 30-minute Zoom sessions on Wednesdays in April. Each session will take place on Wednesday from noon to 12:30 p.m. and will cover a specific topic to support 4-H volunteers in their club work.

April 5 – Effective Communication – Tips and tricks to get the message out to families and members.

April 12 – Financial Management & Fundraising – Are all of those required forms overwhelming? Are you unsure of what the rules are about bank accounts, fundraisers, or club finances? We can help!

April 19 – Creating Positive Club Culture – Make meetings matter to your members and their families. 4-H is supposed to be FUN! Let’s put that spark back into our clubs.

April 26 – Member Retention and Engagement – Keep members (and families) engaged! Ideas to motivate them to put forth effort and participate at a higher level.

Register for 4-H Volunteer Lunch N’ Learns at go.osu.edu/4HLunchNLearn to receive a Zoom link that will work for all four sessions. We know our volunteers are busy, so attend one or all four as your schedule allows.

Register Now For Ohio 4-H Conference

The Ohio 4-H Conference takes place at the Greater Columbus Convention Center on the second Saturday in March.

The Ohio 4-H Conference is the largest gathering of 4-H volunteers in the United States! Nearly 1,200 teen and adult volunteers participate each year. The Ohio 4-H Conference is designed to equip participants with resources, information, and skills to meet the ever-changing needs of youth. Attendees have the opportunity to receive training in more than 125 different topics such as career exploration, risk management, camping, leadership, cake decorating, dancing, animal sciences, and much more.

In addition to the educational sessions, the day features the Ohio 4-H Volunteer Recognition Luncheon highlighting the extraordinary accomplishments of volunteers. The teens (age 13 and older) have a luncheon that recognizes their peers and often features a keynote speaker. Matthew Swearingen, Adams County 4-Her, has been named the Ohio 4-H Teen of the Year and will be recognized at the Ohio 4-H Teen luncheon and Joy Bauman, Adams County 4-H Volunteer, will receive the Ohio 4-H Alumni Award at the Volunteer luncheon. The Adams County 4-H Advisory Committee provides financial support to teens and volunteers wishing to attend Ohio 4-H Conference. This year we would like to take an especially large delegation to cheer on Matthew and Joy as they are recognized for their achievements.

To register, please find the registration booklet and registration form at the link below. Complete the registration form, listing your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices for each time slot. Please be sure you are not requesting sessions and workshops that overlap. Once your form is complete, drop it off at the Extension Office or email it to Barbie at rowe.316@osu.edu so she can submit your registration. Sessions do fill on a first come, first serve basis so the earlier you register, the more likely you are to get your first choice! Registration closes February 11, 2022.

Come join the fun at the 2022 Ohio 4-H Conference!

Back on Track Volunteer Training

After two years of chaos we are going to get Back on Track in 2022! 4-H programming during Covid-19 has presented many challenges and our volunteers, families, and members have done a terrific job of adjusting to make the best of the situation. Much needed flexibility and grace have been the name of the game for two long years. As we look forward to a more normal 4-H year, we will be getting Back on Track, back to the basics to make 4-H programming meaningful, experience based, and most importantly FUN!

Join us on Thursday, November 18, from 6-8 p.m. at the Ohio Valley Career & Technical Center for Back on Track Volunteer Training for all returning 4-H Volunteers.  This training will include a program overview and updates, breakout sessions, and Policy 1.50 training, meeting all training requirements for the 2021-22 4-H program year.  We will also distribute club packets, recognize our Achievement Award winners, Honor Clubs, and announce Club Scrapbook awards.

In order to ensure that we have enough materials and supplies available, please register at go.osu.edu/volunteertraining no later than Monday, November 15.

Not a 4-H Volunteer yet but interested in becoming one?  Visit http://go.osu.edu/ACVolunteer to complete your application.  New volunteers are welcome to attend Back on Track but must complete a New 4-H Volunteer orientation.
