Hi! My name is Catherine Adams (she/her), and I’m a fourth year Stamps-Eminence Fellow majoring in Social and Environmental Geography, with a minor in Creative Writing. I particularly enjoy writing poetry.

I’m passionate about environmental justice and equity, and much of my work on campus and off is centered around creating a more just and green world. For the past 5 years, I have been the Creative Director of Ohio Youth for Climate Justice (OHYCJ), a youth-led organization fighting for climate justice in the state of Ohio. At OSU, I work as a research assistant on a project investigating LGBTQ+ climate vulnerability and resilience in Ohio.

I was lucky to spend the summer of 2022 at CU Boulder, where I worked on creative climate communication as an intern for Inside the Greenhouse. I also worked to connect scientists, policymakers, and constituents for better environmental policies as an intern for Colorado Local Science Engagement Network.

In 2023, I travelled to Dubai to participate in COP28, which is the international, annual United Nations climate change conference. I was able to travel more this summer, as I spent July 2024 in London conducting archival research for my thesis on the British empire’s relationship to fossil fuels. This semester, I’m looking forward to learning more about national and international climate policymaking as an OSU delegate to the 2024 Local Conference of Youth USA, where I will participate in the drafting of the National Youth Statement.

In my free time, you’ll find me in Derby Hall (the home of Geography at OSU). I’m the Vice President of the Undergraduate Geography Club, so come find us to learn more about the discipline!
