Which Software for Which Project?

“…You can find similar tools Across Adobe!”

“…But did you know that you can work on a project easier when choosing the right software?…”

Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is the most helpful software when the key component in the project is enhancing, correcting, or manipulating digital photos. In its specialty, the images are always pre-existing and dealt with at a pixel level. It is the main software that gives full control over every aspect of editing a photo. Photoshop could be used for editing graphics for a website, a digital artwork, a simple animation, video, or document. Altering an image might include using filters, layers, adding textures, changing exposures etc. However the graphic might be created, the best use of the software is when dealing with different kinds of pixel images, or modifying different kinds of files.

Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator is the best software to use when creating vectors of shapes, making typographic effects, and scanning hand-drawn images to make digital traces for smooth lines. When using Illustrator, images will be less pixelated or altered, and more simple in design. When converting images into vectors in Illustrator, images can be endlessly manipulated in size and scale without losing detail. The flexible art board space also lets a user move work outside the pages, and still keep the work visible.  It is also used for preparing scanners for laser cutting.

InDesign

Adobe InDesign is used mainly for drafting layouts and creating templates that can be uniform across multiple pages at once. Its specialty is text based projects, because it has multiple kinds of text box templates and will duplicate in multiple pages. InDesign allows more than one page to be worked on at a time, without strictly using layers or creating a whole separate project. Because the software produces more than one page to work on, InDesign is best worked on projects that are layouts that could be printed. For example: flyers, brochures, resumes, business cards, and magazines.

Premiere Pro

Premiere Pro can be used for all common video editing tasks necessary for producing broadcast-quality, high-definition video. It can be used to import video, audio and graphics, and is used to create new, edited versions of video which can be exported to the medium and format necessary for the distribution. When creating videos using Premiere Pro, various video and still images can be edited together. Titles can be added to videos, and filters can be applied along with other effects.

After Effects

Adobe After Effects is a digital visual effects, motion graphics, and compositing application developed by Adobe Systems and used in the post-production process of film making, video games and television production. Among other things, After Effects can be used for keying, tracking, compositing, and animation.

Animate

Adobe Animate provides a comprehensive authoring environment for creating interactive and media-rich applications. Animate is widely used to create engaging projects integrating video, sound, graphics, and animation. You can create original content in Animate or import assets from other Adobe applications such as Photoshop or Illustrator. Animate lets you design animation add video and sound, and then use a language to integrate sophisticated interactivity.
