– Brush Tool (B) is used to paint current foreground color on an image. The Brush Tool creates soft strokes of color. You can change the size of the brush by hitting the ] key (bigger) and [ key (smaller) on your keyboard.

InDesign

– The Paintbrush Tool is used to create free-form paths that can have a more hand-drawn feel. With the Paintbrush Tool, you can draw a path and apply a brush to the stroke at the same time to give paths an artistic look, like calligraphy, for instance.
– Select either the Paintbrush or Pencil Tool in the Toolbar. Click “Tool Options” in the Properties panel or double-click the Tool in the Toolbar. You can select options for how the tool works in this dialog box.
– With either tool, an asterisk appears next to the pointer, indicating that you can draw a new path. Drag to start drawing.
– With the Paintbrush Tool selected, you can apply a different brush by choosing it from the Brush menu in the Properties panel before drawing a path or after (with the path selected).
– To redraw parts of a path with either tool, move the pointer over a selected path. When the asterisk disappears, drag and redraw.

– The Paintbrush Tool (B) and the Brushes panel are some of its most powerful tools. With the Paintbrush Tool and the Brush panel, you can dress up your vector paths into compelling flourishes, patterns, tapered edges, and more.
– Paintbrush Tool applies predefined vector art to the paths you create

– Lasso Tool (L) is useful for drawing free-form segments of a selection border. To add to, subtract from, or intersect with an existing selection, click the corresponding button in the options bar.

Selection options

Do either of the following:
• Drag to draw a freehand selection border.
• To switch between freehand and straight-edged segments, press Alt (WINDOWS) or Option (MAC), and click where segments should begin and end.

-To erase recently drawn straight segments, hold down the Delete key.
-To close the selection border, release the mouse without holding down Alt or Option.

In Photoshop there are also subcategories for the Lasso Tool called Polygonal Lasso and Magnetic Lasso.
-Polygonal Lasso is useful for drawing straight-edged segments of a selection border.

-When you use the Magnetic Lasso, the border snaps to the edges of defined areas in the image. The Magnetic Lasso tool is not available for 32 bits-per-channel images.

Illustrator

– Lasso Tool (Q) is used to select objects.

You can click and drag around an object to select it. You could also select an object that is in a group by clicking and dragging around that object.
– With the Lasso Tool you can also add and subtract things from your selection.
