Lasso Tool
– Hotkey (L)
– Lasso Tool (L) is useful for drawing free-form segments of a selection border. To add to, subtract from, or intersect with an existing selection, click the corresponding button in the options bar.
Selection options
-A. New
-B. Add To
-C. Subtract From
-D. Intersect With
Do either of the following:
• Drag to draw a freehand selection border.
• To switch between freehand and straight-edged segments, press Alt (WINDOWS) or Option (MAC), and click where segments should begin and end.
-To erase recently drawn straight segments, hold down the Delete key.
-To close the selection border, release the mouse without holding down Alt or Option.
In Photoshop there are also subcategories for the Lasso Tool called Polygonal Lasso and Magnetic Lasso.
-Polygonal Lasso is useful for drawing straight-edged segments of a selection border.
-When you use the Magnetic Lasso, the border snaps to the edges of defined areas in the image. The Magnetic Lasso tool is not available for 32 bits-per-channel images.

– Lasso Tool (Q) is used to select objects.
You can click and drag around an object to select it. You could also select an object that is in a group by clicking and dragging around that object.
– With the Lasso Tool you can also add and subtract things from your selection.
