Photoshop

Hand Tool

Hotkey (H)
-Hand Tool (H) is used to pan around an image when zoomed in.

-When there are scroll bars on the side of the screen, the hand tool can operate.

-Photoshop is the only Adobe software that has to be zoomed in to use the hand tool.

When another tool is being used, the Hand Tool can be selected by holding down the space bar

-Cannot work when using the Text Tool.

-Hold ALT (WINDOWS) or  OPTION (MAC) to toggle the Hand Tool.

Illustrator

Hand Tool

Hotkey (H)
-Hand Tool (H) can be used to drag and move around the Art Board in the Illustrator window, similarly to Photoshop. However unlike Photoshop, the document does not need to be zoomed in to use it.

When another tool is being used, the Hand Tool can be selected by holding down the space bar

-Cannot work when using the Text Tool.

-Hold ALT (WINDOWS) or  OPTION (MAC) to toggle the Hand Tool.

InDesign

Hand Tool

-Hand Tool (H) is used to move around the project document.

-By clicking and grabbing, the hand tool will pan around in any direction the mouse moves.

In InDesign, there are multiple project pages to scroll down. The Hand Tool can be used to scroll by pushing the pages upwards.

Premiere Pro

Hand Tool

Hotkey (H)
-Hand Tool (H) used to drag a timeline left and right, forward and backwards. Most useful when Tracks are zoomed in, used to view different spots on a timeline.

-Shortcut Z click for zooming in.

-Click will zoom out.

After Effects

Hand Tool

Hotkey (H)
-Hand tool (H) is used to move things around in the after effects interface. Space bar will temporarily switch to Hand Tool from another tool in use.

-CONTROL (Windows) or OPTION (MAC) +  Z click will zoom in.

-CONTROL (Windows) or OPTION (MAC) click to zoom out.
