Pen Tool

Hotkey (P)
– Pen Tool (P) creates anchor points in a Photoshop document that connect to make pathways. The pathways can become selections, drawn lines to create shapes, or help mask an object. The Pen Tool makes it easier to control the shape of a pathway, by manipulating any point and line and simply clicking and dragging.

Sub-options:

-Free-form Pen (P):  Click and drag to create any desired shape. Connect line to create a path, on which anchor points will be created.
-Curvature Pen (P): Select mode “path” by clicking 2 different anchor points to form a line.

-3rd click to form another anchor point will create a curve automatically.

-Any additional anchor points will be curved, add anchor point, delete anchor point, convert anchor point.

Illustrator

Hotkey  (P)
– Pen Tool (P) to use, click and make anchor points which make paths for a line to follow. In Illustrator, the Pen Tool is most useful to make more precise lines for vectors.
• Click and hold to make anchor points have 2 bars. Manipulating each bar will curve the line in different directions.
• Hold Shift and click and drag to make straight lines.
• Hold CONTROL (WINDOWS) or COMMAND (MAC) and click to make lines longer or
manipulate curves.

3 sub-options:

-Add anchor point (+)

-Delete anchor point (-)

-Anchor point (Shift +C) click and drag line between the anchor points to curve
and manipulate it.

Premiere Pro

Pen Tool

Hotkey (P)
– Pen Tool (p) adds keyframes to a clip, allowing user to set opacity and effect levels
on video clips, or effect levels and audio levels on the audio clips.

-Hitting Pen Tool will create a line to go across both audio and visual clips for editing. It has the ability
to select multiple key frames, though it is most helpful in audio.
– Select tool (V])also adds keyframes to a clip.

After Effects

Pen Tool

Hotkey (G)
– Pen Tool (G) is used to draw and change the paths of an object or create new paths
just from free form.

-Single click will show outline of vertex form (anchor points).

Sub-options:

-Add vertex, delete vertex, and convert vertex

-Click on a vertex point and drag a direction to add curvature to the line.
