Clothing

The Inca valued clothing, and saw other cultures around them as “savages” if they did not cover their bodies. Allcas were important to the making of clothes because they wove clothes for the noblemen. Part of being a chosen one was the ability to weave and spin at a young age, and the skills develop as they continue on when they went to the acllahausi. Only those of higher class were able to wear the soft, tightly-woven clothes they produced. All other people in the community would wear things that were heavier and more course. The girls made elaborate, colorful clothes, jewelry, and headdresses. Headdresses were worn by their rulers as a symbol of power, feathers were highly valued and were used very often.
