Evans hired as Northmor agricultural educator

Congratulations to recent master’s graduate Kaitlyn Evans ’20, ’22 MS on her new position with Northmor High School as an agricultural educator and FFA advisor.
 
Evans, a two-time graduate of Ohio State, completed her master’s degree in agricultural communication, education, and leadership in May. She also holds a bachelor of science degree in agriscience education.

Internship Spotlight: Maranda Berger with Ball

This summer, Maranda Berger, an agriscience education major, has been completing a communications and marketing internship with Ball Horticulture Company in Chicago, Illinois.
 
Ball is the world’s largest horticulture company. In her internship, she is working on external communications and creating a virtual tour of the on-sight 10-acre garden.
 
“I applied to this internship to open my horizons in agriculture and horticulture. I have learned so much and really enjoyed the internship so far,” said Berger.

Internship Spotlight: Bethany Starlin at Trimble Agriculture

Bethany Starlin, an agricultural communication major, is working with Trimble Agriculure this summer as a product management intern.
 
“I work within Trimble’s diverse product portfolio and support products through their lifecycle while working alongside the Engineering, Marketing, and Sales teams,” said Starlin. “Through this role I’ve been able to gain better understanding of the precision agriculture technologies available to farmers worldwide.”

Internship Spotlight: Raegan Feldner, Ohio Farm Bureau

This summer, Raegan Feldner is the Ohio State Fair intern with Ohio Farm Bureau in Columbus, Ohio.
In this role, Feldner will work with exhibitors and the Ohio Expo Commission to create the Ohio State Fair Land and Living exhibit which educations fair visitors about animal agriculture, food, technology and the environment with the goal of sharing career opportunities in agriculture to young people.

Pulley awarded NACTA teaching award

Justin Pulley was awarded the 2022 North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) Graduate Student Teaching Award during the 2022 annual conference.
During his time as a graduate student, Pulley lectured Introduction to Agricultural Engineering, Laboratory Pedagogy and Management, Electrical Systems, and Agricultural Machinery Management. He also served as a teaching assistant for Methods of Teaching in Agriscience Education and Toward Cultural Proficiency.

Internship Spotlight: Mackenzie Hoog with American Farm Bureau

Mackenzie Hoog, an agricultural communication major, is the leadership, education and engagement intern for the American Farm Bureau Federation in Washington DC.
As an intern with AFBF, Hoog serves as support for the Women’s Leadership committee, Young Farmers & Ranchers committee and Promotion & Education committee.

Congratulations to Dr. Alyssa Rockers on the successful defense of her dissertation, “What it means to be an Ohio mother: A qualitative case study of the social identities and interpersonal conversations that influence mothers’ food buying.”
Rockers was advised by Dr. Joy Rumble, assistant professor of agricultural communication. Dr. Jera Niewoehner-Green, assistant professor of community leadership, Dr. Emily Bisdorf Buck, professor of agricultural communication, Dr. Cynthia Burak, professor of women’s, gender and sexuality studies and graduate faculty representative Dr. Dorian Harrison served on her committee.
