The application form for the 2016 Outstanding Senior Award is now available at http://go.osu.edu/cfaes-outstanding-senior. This is the premier award granted to seniors in CFAES. To qualify for consideration, applicants must have a 3.00 cumulative GPA at the time of application and be graduating during the 2016 calendar year. Selections are made based on the applicant’s record of scholarship, leadership, professional and personal growth and involvement in the community, both within OSU and beyond. The deadline for applications is December 16. All applications will be reviewed in January. A group of students will be selected, from all who apply, to interview with the selection committee in February. The group of Outstanding Seniors will be recognized at the CFAES Recognition Program on April 7, 2016. Contact Dr. Marilyn Trefz (.2) should you have questions.

Smith-Hughes Act 100th Anniversary Logo Design Contest
In preparation for the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Smith-Hughes Act, the National Council for Agricultural Education is announcing a logo design contest. This contest is open to students currently enrolled in K-12 and post-secondary agricultural education and related programs (e.g. agricultural communications, agricultural leadership) with cash prizes provided for the top three designs ($500, $300, & $200). Scholarship Application is Live, $2.2 Million Available
National FFA 2016 Scholarship application is now live! Encourage all students to apply; there is a member and non-member application. Students fill out one application to engage in multiple opportunities. The advisor approval process will begin Monday, Nov. 23. VisitFFA.org/scholarships for more details and the application.

America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders College Scholarships
America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, is launching on November 15 and will again be awarding more than $500,000 in college scholarships. High school seniors and college students pursing ag-related degrees can apply from November 15 through February 1. Farmers also play an important role in the program, as students must obtain endorsements from three local farmers. Farmers have until February 8 to endorse applications. With nearly 60,000 annual job openings in ag, there has never been a better time for students to join our industry so help us spread the word about the program to students and farmers in rural communities. Careers in Agriculture Scholarship Program
Scholarships worth $1,000 will be awarded to 10 college students in their first or second year who demonstrate scholastic achievement, leadership in agriculture and a perceived ability to contribute to agriculture in the future. Preference goes to first or second year college students pursuing two- or four-year degrees in agronomy, crop production, or closely related fields. All applications must be postmarked by February 5, 2016.
