October 2021 Advisor of the Month

Check out some of the wonderful things our advising colleagues have done this past month! Thank you to each of you for all of your hard work and dedication to the students in your areas and OSU!

  • Jessica Baer-Graves
    • Jessica is an all-star. She goes above and beyond on all matters of advising since day 1. She is calm/cool/collected when it comes to complicated student situations. She is just an amazing colleague! Giving fresh perspectives and solid advice to students and staff.”
  • Trish Jefferson
    • Trish has been so helpful with scheduling many visits/appointments for prospective student-athletes this fall. We’re all a little rusty with in-person campus visits, but not Trish! She hit the ground running, offered awesome meetings and open houses for prospective students and parents, and communicated updates in a very timely manner. We appreciate you, Trish!”
  • Alissa Kasmer
    • “Alissa is always happy to help with an advising question and if she doesn’t know she digs and finds the answer. She is deeply kind and cares so much about everyone around her. She consistently goes above and beyond to help and has such a positive outlook. She looks out for her students and her fellow advisers. Even with staffing changes in her own office, she pushes through to support those around her.”
  • Margaret Nevrekar
    • “Margaret is an excellent academic advisor. Not only does she bring her expertise and calm and caring demeanor into each student appointment, this fall she is also … [deep breath] teaching Survey, stepping up to learn to begin running Exploration’s end-of-term processes, teaching EXP 2000 in Session 2, serving on USAC, serving as EXP’s OnCourse ambassador, running EXP’s probation workshop and served on our interview committee for a new hire and probably more that I am leaving out. She is awesome and we appreciate her!!”
  • Lucy Omar
    • “Lucy has gone above and beyond this semester in multiple ways. With multiple new members of the team, Lucy has been a patient teacher, mentor, and advocate, and with her new first year students, Lucy has shown incredible dedication to making sure that their transition to on-campus learning and Ohio State in general has gone smoothly.”
  • Rebecca Sallade
    • “Rebecca used her background in public health to put together a presentation and resource list on mental health and self care, and is in the midst of presenting it to 13 different survey classes. This is in addition to learning all of the nuances of the advising job (she only started in August!) and working to make connections with her students.”
