October 2019 Advisor of the Month

Check out some of the wonderful things our advising colleagues have done this month! Thank you to each of you for all of your hard work and dedication to the students in your areas and OSU!

Meg Downing Meg has taken on a lot this semester with helping to coordinate our 3 large survey sections and making sure everything is running smoothly with the schedules for the sections and making sure we are all on the same page as instructors. She has also been a wonderful support as always in advising and helping to make sure that student needs and concerns are taken care of and helping with my many questions when it has come to some more complicated petition situations.
Liz McGinnis Liz is our person for creating updates to the website. She usually has a turn-around time for the needed updates of a day or less. Often she must complete multiple updates in a single week. Her quick response to meet the needs of the office, keeping all of our information up to date is greatly appreciated. Basically, she rocks!
Angie Lecount Melamed Angie is patient and thorough in handling a very large roster of Biochem majors. In addition, she helped me out in October by trading Monday morning Walk-ins to accommodate an unexpected conflict. She also helped us run special 10th Friday Walk-ins, and does a great job talking to prospective Chem & Biochem majors at the NMS Overview Sessions.
Leah Schuh Leah does an incredible job of helping our new first year, transfer, and campus change students adjust to Columbus campus. She organizes our orientation and survey courses to help students seamlessly transition into their first semester at Ohio State. She also provides tremendous support to her colleagues so that we can advise our students effectively. She is the definition of a team player and adds so much to the EHE undergraduate student services office.
Jeremy Swisher Jeremy is an absolute rock star! He is an exceptional academic advisor and a supportive coworker. I’m so glad that he is part of our team! =)
Laura Whitaker Laura has taken on a lot during autumn semester. However, her attitude toward the extra commitment is awesome! Recently in a meeting her comment was, “it needed done, I just did it.” This says it all. I went to update a form for spring semester and she had already done the update. In short, she rocks!
Alison Baker, Laura Whitaker, & Alisa Paulsen The psychology office has been CRAZY this semester since we’re down two advisors and, more recently, our front desk administrator. I am so impressed by and thankful for our team and the ways in which we have all stepped up to support one another. Alisa is now managing our desk and Laura and Alison in spite of having fully booked calendars until December (that’s right) AND regularly seeing 12-13 students during our drop-ins (3 times a week now for 2 hours) are positive and able to laugh about it. You all rock.

The winners of this month’s ACADAOS raffle are… Meg Downing and Angie Lecount Melamed! Congratulations!
