Conference Proposal Writing Workshop Series

The second workshop in the Conference Proposal Writing series will be December 20th, from 1:30-3:00pm in the Journalism Building room 274. We would encourage anyone who is interested and can make it to attend. (It’s okay if you did not attend the first workshop. We can catch you up!)

Below are some topics of interest that were brought up at the first workshop during our brainstorming session:

  • Tracking and using appointment data
  • Self-care for advisors
  • Compensation and scope creep
  • Careers and degrees
  • Fighting against “Yahoo articles” about careers/majors
  • Increasing retention and completion rates in Learning Communities
  • Preparing students for capstone experiences
  • Developing Learning Outcomes for advising programming/Using Backwards Course Design

If you are interested in possibly collaborating on one of these topics please consider attending the workshop. If you are unable to attend but would still like to collaborate, please contact Stephanie Elliott (elliott.302@osu.edu), and she will help connect everyone interested.

Proposals for the Office of Undergraduate Education’s 2017 Advising Conference are due January 13th, so this workshop will be the perfect opportunity to get started on your proposal! Additionally, this workshop would be helpful if you are thinking about submitting a proposal for conferences that will occur in mid-to late 2017 since submission deadlines tend to be early.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Amanda Crall (crall.25@osu.edu) or Stephanie Elliot know. Thanks, and we hope to see you at the workshop!
