Tethering my tablet to my phone

Used to be that wireless tethering with my carrier was free. Since I purchased my new phone (Samsung Galaxy S3) however, that avenue has been strangled. So when I used my tablet (Asus Nexus 7 – WiFi only) I had to be within range of a convenient WiFi connection. Well, no more of that!

It takes two bits of software. PDANet for Tablets installed on my Nexus 7 and FoxFi installed on my Galaxy S3. Using the Bluetooth protocol, one can surf the web on the Nexus 7 at decent speeds using the S3’s 4G connection. Take that, unnamed carrier!

Desks at work

A couple of people have expressed interest in our desk arrangement in our office here in ASCTech App Dev. Here are some pictures of us in our office.

Washington Campus June 2012

Just returned from a trip to Washington DC for a week-long course called Washington Campus (more information at http://washingtoncampus.edu.) This was a great experience and really helps you understand  “how Washington works” (their words.)

Capitol Panorama

u.osu.edu was released today!

Well, to Math at least. u.osu.edu is an effort to see if WordPress is a good platform for faculty, staff and students to concoct their web presence. For the uninitiated, this entire site is a WordPress Multisite install hosted by the College of Arts and Sciences. ASCTech and ASCComm worked on this together.
