How healthcare system in USA works

Review on US healthcare as featured in a medical journal: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4193322

WHY I CHOSE THIS TOPIC:

I chose this topic because healthcare is one of the subjects i am taking in this class and i wanted to be more aware of how the healthcare system in USA works overall as i was previously in Pakistan and the healthcare system there is totally different from USA.

SUMMARY OF THE CONTENT( that i have posted here in detail is following) :

healthcare in USA is either provided by private insurance companies, self pay( for people without insurance) or via Medicaid.
Unlike pakistan, a patient needs to be referred to a specialist by his/her family doctor and cannot go to the specialist on his own.

Healthcare cost in USA is very high and according to a survey, 46 million people in America do not have any health insurance.

It’s claimed 62% of bankruptcies are caused by high health costs.

Not having health insurance doesn’t mean people are turned away if they get sick though. And Hospitals must treat those needing help but often at the end of the procedure patients are asked for their details so an invoice can be mailed to them.

The cost can be paid in instalments depending on their financial circumstances and based on a sliding scale fee.
