Dr. Judson L. Jeffries is Professor of African American and African Studies at The Ohio State University as well as Director of the African American and African Studies Community Extension Center, located in the historic community of Bronzeville. He is also co-editor of Spectrum: A Journal on Black Men. Jeffries earned his PhD in political science at USC in 1997. As an undergraduate he attended Old Dominion University where he earned a B.A. in political science. From there he matriculated to the State University of New York at Binghamton where he completed a master’s degree in public policy. Prior to coming to OSU in 2006 Jeffries was an associate professor of political science, homeland security and American Studies at Purdue University in Indiana. Jeffries has also held appointments and taught at such places as Morehouse College, Harvard University, Georgia State University, and Virginia Tech to name a few.

Jeffries is widely published in the fields of public policy, political science and Africana Studies. He has published six books, more than forty-five refereed journal articles, twenty book chapters and numerous newspaper articles over the years. Jeffries is also a regular contributor to the Call and Post newspaper.
